Hi all,
Sunday was Wem's Vehicles of Interest (VOI) show (not classic cars specifically), held in the town centre. We toddled over in the Moggy for the day. The weather started off fairly grim, rainy, cloudy, but gradually improved throughout the day, as did the number of attendees and visitors.
Vehicles of Interest is entirely subjective. Most of the vehicles would likely have been of interest, even if only vaguely, to typical classic car show attendees, although there were plenty of quite modern cars which to our eyes stretched "interest" to well beyond breaking point. Modern(ish) cars with big wheels, a noisy exhaust (occasionally demonstrated with great relish) and the odd dent, seemed to fulfil whatever entry criteria there is. With respect, IMO they'd have looked more at home at a modified car meet, or the supermarket car park, but as said before these things are subjective.
Fortunately most cars were interesting, but I can't help thinking that a little more entry criteria wouldn't go amiss, so as tighten the focus of the meeting and not to dilute what is - currently - an enjoyable and well supported day out, even if that meant that the number of exhibitors reduced slightly.
Overall a very good event though, so thanks to everyone who puts it together as it can't be an easy, or quick, job of organisation.
Plenty of photos were taken (not of the wheelspinning minority though) so I'll split them over two threads.
The second batch of photos are now here: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19632.

To each his own,but I just don,t get that extreme lowering inflicted on vw's.The light blue one looks ok to me,but the beige one is ridiculous.
On a practical note, how do they get over a "sleeping policeman"?
Beautiful Riley, one of my favourite cars. |
