298 EVE is not the car's original registration number - it was transferred to the Coupe some years ago by the previous owner. It has presumably now been put on retention because the car no longer has an MOT and the seller is trying to preserve his 'investment'. This car has been on the market for some time at £10,000 - let's see if it sells for a more realistic figure! _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Wasn't it one of these that Triumph [or, someone?] fitted a Coventry Climax [SOHC?] engine in, as a performance option?
Word had it, the coupe top was removable for fine weather? |

Jack Brabham offered the Coventry Climax conversion; theoretically it could have been on any body style, but the Coupe was the usual option because it already had the higher geared axle ratio.
The roof is/was detachable, simply because that's how Heralds are built up - you can remove the roof of a saloon, or even the estate or the van if you wish - but it's not a simple exercise to be done every time the sun shines, and obviously there is no soft top facility ... _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

I wonder if anyone turned a Vitesse into a coupe? |

Well, Harry Webster, the Triumph engineer responsible for the Herald, did for a start - it was known in the factory as the Kenilworth Dragster!
Reputedly there was one ex-works Vitesse coupe registered in 1963 (I think) but this may have been Webster's car being sold off. Because of the Meccano nature of the Herald there have been more recent versions too. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline
