Hi all,
On Saturday the 80th Anniversary event took place at Prescott, in glorious weather. As you'd expect, Bugattis were evident in great numbers, as was a varied assortment of vintage and classic cars from other manufacturers.
Timed runs took place throughout the day, by class. The broad criterias in most classes saw a wide variety of seemingly dissimilar cars going head-to-head. A number of previous hillclimb champs were in evidence, along with a selection of cars purposefully built with hillclimbs in mind (Gould, Pilbeam etc).
My favourite out of the cars competing, Bugattis aside, was probably the Chapman Mercury - in white, reminiscent of a C-Type Jaguar in looks but with a thundering 4.7 litre V8 soundtrack - it was a pleasure to see it being driven properly. The well-used and decidely non-concours V12 Ferrari parked up in the top paddock was also a joy to encounter.
