In the spring of next year I am planning to advertise the Singer for sale, if it sells ok I will be on the look for a nice Jaguar XJ6 series 1 or 2 ( an itch that needs scratching)
Figure an active club may be a source of cars for sale?
The Jaguar Enthusiast Club seems quite active, are there any better ones to checkout?
Regards

Kevin, there are two main clubs :
1. Jaguar Enthusiasts Club (£50 pa)
2 Jaguar Drivers Club (£38 pa)
and two main forums :
1. Jaguar Car Club.com which has a specific XJ6 section
2 Jaguar UK forums.
The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club appears the more active and when I was a member the classified section was extensive.

Hello all; I've just spotted this one, and perhaps I can add a word or two having been at one time or another a member of both clubs. From experience, I would say that the JEC is the more proactive and progressive of the two clubs, but that depends really on where you live and what the respective local area is like. They are all different and depend not only on those running that area but the membership too. Could I suggest that before making a decision you find out where the local branches of each club hold their monthly meeting and go and visit both? You'll be welcomed and that way you can make up your own mind. I was a member of the JDC for 30+ years and wrote articles for the club for years, but both anno domini and living in France mean that I am now a member of no UK club any more. Could I also suggest that to help you in your quest you look up both clubs on Facebook? The JDC have their main forum, plus there are specific subsidiary forums (fora?) for XKs, XJ's, replicas (my special subject!) and so on. Just search Facebook and you'll find them. Here's the JDC main page:-
https://www.facebook.com/groups/192308834766/?ref=bookmarks
And the JEC page:-
https://www.facebook.com/JaguarEnthusiastsClub/
But that is the internet, and for hands-on and local help only you can decide between the two. I'm sorry not to give you a definitive answer but it really will boil down to how active your local regions are. HTH |
