I watched the one on the Maserati last night, I don't think its a good reflection on our hobby buying a car for £12-13k and then making it super concours just for a couple of grand profit and a cheesy grin. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I think enough people know the difference between our hobby and what Drew is doing, through his other show which is just about finding stuff, adding some value and then selling it on.
As you watch more of them, the same stuff keeps cropping up - most of the cars he goes to buy are his all-time favourite car, then he alternates between banging on about how important originality is, and wanting to make it into something it's not.
The bits where he visits specialists to have work done can be quite interesting though. |

Phantomworks has just started again, I watched a new one the other night and I quite like that programme.
My wife even sat and watched a car SOS the other day too! _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Ahh! Mathewsons! Fairly local to me [ One always needs to drive more than a dozen miles or so to get to the next town round here]....whilst they always have something interesting, I find their prices to be somewhat eye-watering, for what they have up for sale. _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

They have an auction coming up soon, the prices there are always on high side imo. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I quite enjoyed it. No Stupid histrionics or fake deadlines. They do have some interesting stuff there - I bought my Thames Dormobile from them after it had failed to sell at auction a couple of times. I spotted it a couple of times in the background in that programme! |

Watched Mark Evans reporting on the Jaguar build of new XKSS to as near as original spec as it is possible to do these days. It was good to see Norman Dewis and hear his reflections.
I thought it was as good as it could be for the type of programme it was and I enjoyed it.
Anyone else see it? |

Yes, I watched that last night, and it was quite interesting. I must say I was more interested in the construction of the new one than the history so I did fast-forward through a lot of those bits. I thought there was less false jeopardy in this programme than the previous one they did - was that the lightweight E-type?
The other night, I also noticed that ITV4 showed a programme made up of clips from "World of Sport". Only a short prog, it contained some footage of the 1976 Japanese GP where Hunt won the championship, some motorbike racing, and a Porsche cup with a cartwheeling car. Now I've got to keep an eye on yet another part of the EPG in case they're going to show more. |

I thought the Mk11 Jag restoration was good as far as it went. The end result certainly looked impressive but like all these programmes the viewer is left wanting to know more about the actual fabrication ... especially on a car like this which is particularly difficult when rust takes hold.
I have a soft spot for the Mk11 (probably because I worked on them as a youngster and learned a lot from just this model.) so when someone takes one on they have my respect. |

I didn't notice that - sorry to say that I record SOS, and fast-forward through the "SOS" bits and the section (which seems to be getting longer) where they either go and drive one, or show some historic footage or whatever. Oh, and the bits where Tim messes around. Though I've noticed some of his segments now are back to being a bit more interesting. |
