Also, I think the [passenger] door is partly open? Ford Model Ys had doors with rear hinges.... _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

Thanks for ideas so far. location - all I can add is North Derbyshire. Can't find anything on a Brookfield Mill at all.

Hi
You're correct in that the door is front hinged and has a straight trailing edge so is probably not a rear passenger door, the reg. number appears to be M or N or W with LG or possibly UG( I zoomed in) but those dates wouldn't seem to fit with that body style. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

There was a Brookfield Mill just south of Chesterfield, in Old Tupton. The area was redeveloped in the 1960s. I don't recognise the hillside in the background, but that could be the location. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Here it is - the development I recall was on the other side of the road, the mill buildings are still there. Your photo is looking South West towards Ashover; the map reference is 378641
The Mill is on Press Brook, directly opposite the Mill Hotel marked on the map. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

That is Woodthorpe House; south of Woodthorpe House is Field House Farm, and Brookfield Mill is/was to the north-east on the stream. Batemans Mill is/was Woodthorpe Mill on the other side of the road.
I've highlighted the two mills on the 1960s map here:
... but I am relying on my memory from sixty years ago ... _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

The car on the right could be a Vauxhall. |

Great info. Thanks all. I have passed a link on to my enquirer, so he may pop in for a look.

Could be a late 1930s Humber?
Edit: I think it's a 1947/48 Humber Hawk. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Agree with the Humber Hawk, late 40's model. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
