The original carpet in my Chamois is still pretty good and I want to preserve it. However from black it has turned to a bit brownish in places. Is there something that I can use to dye it back to black again? Anyone had expereince with this? _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

One trick that used car salesmen get up to is to spray it with matt black paint.
Bit of a bodge but the old "rattle can" method works surprisingly well. |

I should think a black fabric dye would work satisfactory. Some time ago I got a dye/waterproofing product from Furniture Climic. It was intended to re-dye a laundulet roof and it worked well but I had plenty left so also used it to re-darken a Duck covered roof which also made a splendid improvement. I should imagine it has almost universal uses on all manner of fabrics so a bit of carpet should be a breeze.
It wasn't vastly expensive either.
I'm sure they would offer advice.
The question would be how to apply it, I guess a stiff bristle brush? _________________ Daimler Fifteen 1934 (now sold)
