|
I have for sale a new old stock BMC crankshaft which I am told fits an Austin 8. It has the original box which is a little tatty.
It has been properly stored and kept thoroughly greased.
The numbers stamped on it are 1A1970
The part no. on the box is 39354 STD.
I can provide photos if required.
Price is £100. Due to size and weight I would rather that the buyer collects from me.

Hello Phil. That sounds interesting.
Perhaps you would be interested to note that BMC was formed in early 1952 and the Austin 8 was withdrawn in October 1947.
...you see where I am going with this?
Does the box have BMC printed on it?
Perhaps it is A30 or A40?
I hope you don't mind my asking... |

Austin (and BMC) continued to supply parts for earlier cars. I recall rescuing a store-full of Austin Seven parts in the late-1960s, many of which were in BMC packaging. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

I learnt to drive in 1959 in a 1934 Austin Ten/Four. It had a leaky throttle spindle, caused by wear in the carb body making a slightly oval whole. We had to join a waiting list for a new carb.
The examiner let me off the slightly high tick over when I told him about the leaky spindle and pointed out the slight whistle it caused.
The site wants me to use the American spelling for the second word of my posting. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi. Yes it does have BMC on the box.
I am not sure if it is A30/35. The chap I spoke to is adamant that it's Austin 8. He's going to check the numbers on another crank he has to see if they match.
I do think it's for an Austin with a small engine though.
Hoping it's if use to someone as it would be a shame for it just to sit in a box. |

Actually, I think A30 cranks have 2A numbers so you could well be right. |
