I have a serious over-fuelling problem with the Mk2 Humber Sceptre. The Weber 28/36 carb was ultrasonically cleaned and everything seems OK there. But I know nothing about the GP Made in Italy fuel pump apart from it not being original.

I'll be getting a fuel pressure gauge in a couple of days to see what it's up to but does anyone know anything about these carbs? Are they suitable for the Weber-equipped 1725cc? Any idea what sort of pressure they deliver? I've had a good look but there's precious little information about them out there.

If you Google "GP Italian Fuel Pumps" you may find your answers.

Is your pump an electric pump? Or a mechanical pump attached to the engine block?

A lot of electric pumps are made in Italy'...Indeed, for me, the most famous fuel filters and regulators are made by Malpassi...[Filter King].

Weber carbs, in my limited experience, are sensitive to fuel pressure from the pump.
[As indeed are SU carbs].

Fuel pressure needs to be no more than two or three PSIs....

It?s a mechanical pump which, as I?ve just found out having put the gauge to it, is squirting out at 4psi which shouldn?t be enough to cause the sort of problems I?ve having as far as I know.

I?ve warned that bloody Humber that if it doesn?t start behaving I?m going to go full Basil Fawlty on it.
