There are some flashy products on the market including the likes of POR 15 but I have found hammerite (well the smooth version) perfectly adequate, I have parts on my Jag I painted 10 yrs ago still look as good as they did on the day
I think sometimes its very easy to over think restorations sometimes the simple answers are the best _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

I've actually been looking at POR15 Greeney I do think it worth the extra money, but again I wouldn't know if it covered galvanised steel without the preparation mentioned by the other fella's.
I may do the underbody panels in that though, with waxoyl on top, no such thing as belt and braces where 2cv's are concerned! |

I don't have a galvanised chassis as I have the original rust free one.
I have used por15 which I purchased from Frost. You will still need the special primer its called "metal ready" and it is just a blue watery liquid for galvanised steel and other metals like SS or Aluminum _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

O-N, if you are going to use some kind of rust preventative paint for the underside, try looking at a product called Epoxy Mastic....I can give you a link if you want, though it has been posted on here a time or two. |

It can be applied by using either an airless spray, a round brush, or a foam roller. If the surface is poor (rust pitted) then a brush is the best way to go for the first coat. The roller will give the best finish.
Its available in 5 different colours, so it may be possible to colour co-ordinate your underbody....no comments please! |
