Looks like a Rover 9 to me.

Can you let us know the engine size and do you have a side view?

Here is a picture of a 9 Tourer

Definitely some similarities to the Rover 9, although the Knotty's car looks like it has the headlamps mounted on the side of the rad, rather than on the wings or on a cross bracket. The rad looks squatter too. Perhaps a special body built using a Rover chassis as a base??

It looks like the Clegg designed Rover 12, but that had a 2300cc engine in 1921. There doesn't seem to have been any Rover engine close to 1701cc. Could it have been fitted with a non-Rover engine?

Found some pictures of a 1921 12 h.p. taken in the '80s. Possibly knotty's car looks a bit smaller.

I'm still hedging my bets on a Rover 9

Alongside your picture of the blue 2-seater it certainly does look very similar, 47p2. The size of the steering wheel relative to the rest of the car, looks a good match, though the shape of the radiator looks more like the 12, and knotty's car looks as though it may have artillery wheels. These could all have been things that changed with different year's models, though.

The engine size is still an anomaly. I'm certain there was never a Rover engine close to 1701cc. The 9 did not exist in 1921, and started life (in 1924) with a 1074cc engine.
