With a new project on the horizon, I will no doubt have some bodywork to strip down to bare metal which ever car I buy.

As far as I'm aware there are 3 ways to strip paint but I'm not an expert there may be more:

1) Paint Stripper
2) Sanding Disks & Wire Brushes etc
3) Heat

Fors and against for all I'd love to here, plus any tips Wink

Or are there are any better ways Question

You'll probably end up using all of the above, and maybe more. With a bit of luck the car won't be so bad, and you'll not necessarily need to bare-metal it all. The problem with stripping back to bare metal is that it starts to rust quite quickly, so you need to plan for putting some paint - even if only primer in the short term - on it as soon as possible.

I have used surface Processing in Dudley to clean my chassis. The process is fantastic, and for the time and effort it saves, is well worth the money in my opinion. They will also e-coat the car which is a very robust and thorough coating that will protect your investment for a very long time.

the reason I decided on this process was because I couldn't think of any possible way to achieve absolute corrosion and contaminate removal from the inside of the box-secitons of chassis. The joy of the process is that it is performed by liquids which can get absolutely everywhere!

Be prepared for it to expose holes you never knew were there though!!
