|
|
Hi all,
I am hoping to get some good advice here as I am already out of my depth with this!
I am in the process of dividing a house and property in East Anglia (UK)and after sawing the lock off an old garage found a Fairthorpe TXSS that had been driven in there in 1996 and left!
Although I remember my brother buying it in 1971 nobody new it was still here or even still existed. It was road registered and also used for hillclimbs in 1972-4 and I believe at snetterton amateur days around the same years. The engine is a 2.5 litre TR5 pi. Log book present in the house.
Now I am bound by duty to raise the best values and equally divide amongst grandchildren; this car however seems to be very difficult to value as it may be only one of two surviving from a very small production.
If I were familiar with the classic car world I would probably know the next move but I am not!
Any opinions, views, advice or pointers from your experienced selves would be much appreciated
The car is complete, undamaged and with all papers but this is the first photograph and it is, believe me, very dirty!!

Has anyone got any news about this car? Please ring 01434 688922 or email.
Even if it has been sold I would be keen to follow up and make sure that a restoration is under way.

Thanks guys.
I've sent a PM but no reply so far.
Of the TX SS there were only six made and, as I understand it, the one in the photo makes for two known survivors - unless you know different.
These cars were spectacularly ugly - which is what makes them so attractive. They are, loosely speaking, Spitfire/GT6 parts under a glassfibre body on a steel chassis. Some of them came equipped with Torix Bennett's patent suspension mods - designed to stop the rear tyres meeting underneath during hard cornering - a fault with some Triumphs with IRS swing axles. |

Thanks for drawing my attention back to this Rick.
I'd have given a lot to buy this but the vendor behaved and communicated in a very peculiar fashion. Over the years I have made attempts to find out the fate of the car but beyond a vague suggestion that it may have gone to Japan I have found nothing.
The Fairthorpe club does not know - last I heard.
If anybody has any information about this car Please let me know. Thanks. |

AFAIK I don't know Tony Brooks.
Can you give me the gentleman's contact details or could you nudge his elbow for me please? |

The member's list is very long. Do you know his 'handle' - very few seem to use their real names. Steve |
