Hi all, George (who tipped me off about that Weylander the other week) scanned and sent me this scan of a special hotplate for caravanning, so I thought I'd post it here and see if anyone else has interesting adverts that could go in here too??
cheers

Not adverts but a couple of accessories I have acquired.
First the Mistral Caravanners Hairdryer. The plastic box clips onto the grille over your cooker and a brick inside is heated up by the burner. A fan to the rear of the brick pushes the warm air up the hose either to a brush, comb or into a hood to dry your hair.
The second is a Retroviser. As you can see it fixes by suction feet to the roof above the windscreen and via two mirrors lets you see through the caravan.

Brian,
I hope nobody over there takes offence...you know, I think, I’m sure Cornish lass knows, I love England, English vintage caravans & English people (my son-in-law- is English).
But I have to say, those two items you have brought a smile to my face. Who but the English could have considered two such eccentric contraptions to be necessary for roughing it on a caravan holiday ?.
And Crikey! don’t those “Carlight plates” sell for a bob or two?
Somebody’s buying them eh?
Cobber. |

I have never used the retroviser on the road - but have put it on while at shows and a surprising number of oldies commented that they used to have one. The suction feet on mine are a bit past their best so I reckon it would fly straight into the front caravan window when the outfit was up to speed.

No offence taken, there were loads more weird accessories available in the 50's and 60's for caravanners. I'll scan some adverts for your delectation! |
