My old taxi has had a few resprays over the years.Touching up scratches or repairing rust now becomes a problem in that the paint reacts.I've tried using different sorts (aerosols,I don't have a garage so a spray job is out of the question) The top coat looks fine for an hour or so but then wrinkles and cracks,is there a sealer I could use to stop the reaction, stripping back a whole wing to bare metal for a small rust bubble isn't really my idea of fun.

Barcoat isolator - I have used it before - its water based and only a thin quickdring coat is needed. Excellent but watch when rubbing down primer on top of it

Thanks for that Phil.I'm sure thats a name I was given years ago (and have forgotten in the meanwhile).
I've ordered some and look forward to giving it a twirl.

Probably a good wash down with Sugar Soap before using Barcoat would not hurt. It takes off almost everything which might contaminate the surface to be painted.

I tried barcoat and gave everything a good wash down.On advice I also sprayed first with a primer filler rather than just primer and everything looks OK. I'm only using aerosols and spraying over the bright yellow primer/filler I was suprised how thin some of these modern paints are,it took a lot of coats to cover.I have used the concentrated Hycote before and that covers much better, its harder to blend in though being so dense.
Untill the rust works its way through again at least the doors look a bit better.
