Hi all, i have just joined and have recently bought my Zephyr 6,a car i have lalways wanted since having a MK3 Zodiac some 20 years ago (always prefered the Zephyr's lines). Pictures are as bought with all the green slime washed off!! Not been on the road for 5 years and generally very sound apart from the bodged up repairs to the driverside inner sill at the rear (hence my wanted advert on here). Am about o move house so will have to update as and wehn i can but hope to have her running before then end of the month...

My dad had a 1965 Zephyr 6 in the 1960's which was the family car. It was only 4 years old when he bought it but the front wings, front valance and sillls were starting to hole! It was still around in the early 1980's though my dad sold it at the end of 1970
Aqua Blue JWB 715C. I used to wash it very Sunday and wax it every month as the paint went dull very quickly. Column gear change too
Was a nice quite, fast roomy car for 6 of us!
Hope to see more pics _________________ Rover P2

Looks a good base for a project, looking forward to seeing what you do with it. |

My Dad had one when I was 7, changing for a new 3.3 PB Velox in 1965. I always thought the Vauxhall might have had the power, but the Zephyr had the style (and that all my mates and me played Z cars in it!) |

I had one exactly the same colour new in 1965. It was a super car especially as I changed from a Vauxhall Viva HA!
It went extremely well and the only trouble that I had was with the exhaust at the cylinder head joint. The manifold was most curious as it was a slotted pipe bolted to the side of the cylinder head. I've never seen anything like it on any other car. _________________ Keep Torqueing,

We had the model before yours when I was a young lad. Great car. My Dad looked after it like a baby. We had it for 25 years ! did 200 th miles in it and never even replaced the rings. ( Although she was abit smokey at that stage). It was two tone dark grey and light grey. Awesome car . Awesome power and great comfort. Some of my best memories surround that car. All the best with your restoration |

Nash used that exhaust pipe arrangement on Rambler L-heads for a while; odd looking, but simple and cheap to produce, i suppose. a replacement could be knocked out in a few minutes with little effort.
odd, too, that Ford didn't share the Falcon/Mustang six cylinder design with their English partners... it was reliable, robust, and delivered decent fuel mileage, and was already in widespread production AND used in RHD Falcons in Australia.
Zephyr's look similar to Rover P6 in my eye.... not unlike an XJ6 in shape, either, if you squint... handsome car. _________________ nothing is ever so far gone as to be unsalvageable. see this bolt?..... |

I agree on the Rover but you would have to squint vevy hard to see an XJ6 in there I think, when ever I see one I think of Z cars now that dose make feel old _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |

well; just a hint of XJ...
still wondering why the corporation didn't share more technology across the waters...
i wouldn't mind terribly swapping one of my Falcon's for a Zephyr.... _________________ nothing is ever so far gone as to be unsalvageable. see this bolt?..... |
