Ok it's not a car or bike/cycle
I am rebuilding a shoprider mobility scooter.
It is a runner but a bit tatty and the transmission has a banshee howl to it.
Moblity shops and service centres are more expencive than car servicing.
They also have a closed shop / trade secret mentality in not divulging knowledge.
I have finaly started to find some PDF manuals for the scooter.
The whine from the gearbox, sealed for life, is, according to the manual, due to low grease/oil.
Also if it's sealed for life why a filler level plug to check the grease / oil.
Anyway the manual states to use 'Semi-fluid gear gel'
What is semi-fluid gear gel?, and what other devices use it?.
My local mobility centre won't sell it to me, they just tell me that the transaxle is sealed for life and they would have to send it away to be repaired.
Won't go there again.
Any help please

Roger, go and talk to your local independent Land Rover parts supplier. He'll sell you a tube of semi-liquid grease which is designed for use in LR front hubs which are prone to leak when liquid oil is used.
These hubs hold around two pints of gear oil, but very little of this semi grease is needed. I think it must stick to the moving parts, giving permamnent lubrication. I've used it for many years now in all my Range Rovers. |

Thanks emmerson
There is an independent LR base not too far from here,
Also I know of a store man, commercial garage, with a local garage that has a few Mk1 and MK2 Landrovers and a member of the local club.
Getting the scooter ready for next show season |

I imagine that the grease is the same or similar to the grease used in many classic motorcycle gearboxes.
It is available from Morris Lubricants I believe.
