|
|
My dad is thinking of buying a metro as a runaround, but is put off by the fact the tyres are an odd size and hence will be expensive to replace. Does anyone know if any other wheels with a more mainstream tyre size will fit? _________________ 2013 Dodge Durango R/T Hemi

I think (!) some Metros had imperial sized wheels and others had metric, but don't know what the difference is. One is much more expensive than the other. Not much help really, is it? |

Could they be Dunlop Denovo wheels - the early run flat system? They were fitted as OE on some Metro models. It is impossible to get these tyres anymore so a wheel change is the best answer. _________________ Keep Torqueing,

No problem ANY Mini wheel after 1984 will fit, its the same bolt pattern/circle, and incase it has a center guide / boss ?
then remove that, its no problem I have done this many times, the wheels line up perfectly on the studs.
If he is worried about the 12" tyres ? (dont know why he would be?)
then buy some 13" Mini wheels. there are LOADS for sale . _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

It's the metric tyres that are particularly dear, simply because metric wheels and tyres never caught on and so they quickly became "specials". It was a very short lived thing that BL and others - BMW for instance - dabbled in at the time, and the usual workaround was to fit some later imperial wheels to take cheaper rubber. Mind you, I don't know how cheap a 12" tyre would be today - how many cars were fitted with them, aside from later Minis and Metros, and are any new cars today sold with 12" rims? |

Best action would be as JC said, fit 13 inch wheels from a mini specialist or from ebay, find a cheap set complete with good tyres!
Metros look better with 13s too! |
