Hey Ray, I know I only claimed that the Zundapp had the same door back and front but clearly if the doors are the same then the screens are the same and I claim my prize! Evil or Very Mad

May I inject a word of caution here?

Many years ago, fitting the windscreen to a Mk IV Cortina the cord/string needed more pull than my fingers could supply. A pair of snipe nose pliers were to hand and were therefore put into service. The string snapped, the pliers continued - STRAIGHT INTO MY EYE.
It was about an hour later that the A & E doctor got my eye open and was able to confirm I had not blinded myself. I had missed the pupil.
Careless? Probably. Young? Certainly. And also inexperienced. On reflection, The string was probably not suitable. The pliers should not have been used (wrapping the string around a piece of bar would have been better), and the sharp corner which trapped the string and its opposite mate, should have been the first and second corners tackled, leaving the more gentle corners until last.

A Wiser Jim.

Ed "wheeler Dealers" China, reccomends something called 'Para cord' for this job. He reckons its used for parachutes and the like, so it will be very strong im sure.

Sorry Peter----just to blow your theory out of the water--One screen has the tender touch of the windscreen wipers--the other is still a virgin screen!! On the zundapp--I`m glad i did`nt drive one pre-breathaliser days--I`d have sat there complaining that someone stole the steering wheel and where do i put the ignition key?? hehe.

Cheers--Ray the Rocker.....

Hi Ray,

I never had a Zundapp but when I was 16 I did have an Isetta like the one in front of the Zundapp. It had a charging problem that frequently caused me to push start it SINGLE HANDED! I'd get it running down the hill and jump in the FRONT door. I don't think I'd have done it when drunk though. Shocked Laughing

Peter

p.s. I'm sure I could whip that wiper off the rear screen of the Zundapp if it made the difference for me getting the prize. Wink

In fact here is one I prepared earlier, and I still claim my prize. Razz

I`ll give you Three stars for superior effort Peter---your trophy cabinet must be bigger than your garage!! i`ll keep you on tenderhooks a couple more weeks and maybe i`ll share the prize.
On the bubble car push start----how on earth did you enter the front facing door ? You must have had the legs of Carl Lewis and the body of the rubber man!!! hehe.

Cheers---Ray the Rocker.....

Was it the Skoda Octavia?

Hit the nail on the head Poodge--and there`s me thinking there were no bright sparks out there ! Still,it keeps you all on your toes.
Many years ago, working as a mechanic---we took over a skoda dealership
and to my suprise,i felt quite comfortable repairing them.Nothing too complicated on the early octavia`s but spares backup was very limited.
It was a case of "make do and mend" to keep them mobile until ordered parts became available.I even had one customer who used to drive from carmarthen to cardiff for his full service--the longest trip the car ever took ! Ah----memories,memories....

Cheers--Ray the Rocker.....PS..it`s a tie for first place poodge----peter`s flair for the unusual robbed you of top notch---he still did`nt explain how he got in the damn thing tho. hehe.

Hi
I always liked the look of those front engined Skodas.
Were they an actual Skoda design or did they owe anything to a western car company such as Renault, Fiat etc. as a lot of iron curtain country cars did.
Dacia--- Renault
Yugo--Fiat
Lada Fiat

Well the trick was to push it to the top of the hill (my parents lived just beyond the top of a hill) and get it going with enough momentum to reach the slope but not so fast that I couldn't keep well enough to open the door and hop in. Once you're in you just pull the steering wheel towards you and that closes the door. Easy really but sounds horrific.

It sure is, it looks to be about a mid 50s something like an 'elysee' as it has the extra chrome on it,

It's a 1955 Aronde but I must admit that the predecessor of the Octavia, the 440 from 1955 also look similar.

In 1953 the Aronde looked like this..
