I have used Autoglym for years now but even with the most careful application and polishing I seem to get "swirls" on my paintwork.

I must be doing something incorrectly but what?

All advice will be gratefully read.

Thank you and what a beautiful Rover.

There must surely be an entire thread dedicated to your car.
Can you point me towards it, please?

Edit. Thank you for the link to Detailing World. I have just enrolled as a member.

Every time I see these I must confess I have never seen a paint finish that is even more mirror like than mirror!

It was brillaint before its little incident but now Shocked

There are still plenty blemishes on it Phil and unless I want to remove almost 30 years of patina by having it sprayed I will have to live with it. What I did learn from the guys who sorted her out was using different polishes glazes and waxes really does make a massive difference.

Nice cabinet, would like to do something simnilar, have quiet a few from the days when I used to do shows with my cooper and then with the green mini, but the problem is I need a proper garage first, the present one I've got is fine but too messy, I'd like to buy another one to keep the oldies in and put on some display cabinets, wall frames etc!!
Sad It won't be happening too soon though!!

To return to swirl-free paintwork - my Riley is currently undergoing a full re-spray. How should I treat it when it returns from the bodyshop? It's being painted in two-pack.

I doubt if you will get the Riley back from the paint shop swirl free, most body shops mop over their paint jobs and leave lots of swirls. Use a very fine polish Autoglym Super Resin is a popular one, apply it with a microfibre cloth but do not put it on thick, work it well into the paint, you should see the swirls disappearing. After the polishing stage you need to wax the paintwork, again Autoglym HD wax is an excellent product. Post up some before and after pictures for us all to see.
