Well done - looks great
Hoping to restore my cheltenham over winter. Cant decide yet on upgrading it a bit, or keeping it all original, or if moving from original devalues it??
I like the vikings and would have had one myself, but the cheltenham just sort of came my way. _________________ SSG Classic car paint & Signwriting. |

Thanks, Speedy, and welcome to the forum.
I like to keep everything as original as possible, but if I do 'upgrade' anything, such as the cooker in this case to include an oven, I keep all the original bits so that it can be put back if needed!
I have seen some good Cheltenhams, but you will have to lose the p*asti* windows!!
Next I need to replace my curved corner windows. Anyone got any ideas how? And I may have to use *la*tic.
Anyway, our roofs are pl*st*c. |

From what I can gather, if the van is as late as 80-82 then the windows are about the same age anyway, as the company doing them advertised them around then. We will see when Ive investigated further!
I'd prefer glass windows, but if they are almost as old as the van then they will be staying. I think the gas locker on it ruins the shape too, but again, could be original...we will see! lol. _________________ SSG Classic car paint & Signwriting. |

I replaced the front curved windows on my Viking Fibreline along with new window rubbers purchased from Woolies of Mkt Deeping nr Peterborough.
I did not use perspex as it is difficult to bend even when heated.
Instead I used clear acylic sheet, purchased from our local Wickes store.
I cut the sheet to just oversize, laid it over a gallon can and using a heat gun warmed the sheet and at the same time bent it over the former.
i then offered it up to the window with the new rubber fitted and kept heating it until it laid onto the rubber seal all round without any gaps.
I then marked it and cut it to size with a jigsaw.
I put a bead of clear silicone inside the rubber before fitting the sheet. When the rubber lace was fitted inside the seal it pulled everything nice and tight.
If you have the old perspex you could use this as a pattern,I had nothing to go by.
Hope this helps.

Here's a better view of the windows. Thanks for building my confidence, Gresham, I was thinking along those lines and will now have a go!
I think one of them has been done by the previous owner, who talked about doing it years ago, before I was that interested. |

As found in May 2011, sinking into ground, covered in prickles, starting to be vandalised. |

I will post some pics of the restoration soon. I took it to Henham last week, and one of the corner windows did not stand up to the high speed. If anybody wants one it's somewhere on the A1120.
Google Scarlet Snail, first couple of results, for other pics of my Holivan. |

Exactly the same thing happened to us. We took our Viking to the Boston Classic Car Show.
On the way back our friends flashed us from behind,we pulled over to find our corner window had flown out.
They went back and found it on the grass verge intact.
I put it back with a bead of clear silicone in the rubber to give it a better fixing.

Love your Fibreline, the colour scheme is fantastic. Saw the Holivan at Stapleford last year, great little van. |

Thanks for comments everyone. Here's some pics as promised:
The fibreglass under the floor acts as a bucket, so I drilled drainage holes before repairing the floor and surrounding timbers.
The state of the place as found!
'New' cooker with oven for pies.
A few weeks later, first outing, lots more to do yet... |
