I have just rescued this J Type Mini Bus from the Crusher. Exclamation Exclamation
There were four more small vans like this that were sent to the crusher last week. Sad
Plus some classic cars. Shocked
I heard about them on Sunday by a chance meeting with a gentleman who owned some warehousing. I mentioned that I towed a vintage caravan behind my classic car.
He informed me that he had to clear out a warehouse he owned and would I like to take a look sometime at some of the vans, cars and caravans.
Without waiting any further I phoned him the very next day and arranged to go that afternoon.
He had been on holiday the week before and was shocked to find when we visited the premises that in his absence someone from the company had cleared out the warehouse thinking they were doing him a favour.
All that was left was this van,an Eccles caravan and some other more modern items.
I cried all the way home thinking what had been lost. Sad
Did not the scrap men not know the rarity of the items they were disposing of. Question
The high price of scrap metal at the moment has a lot to answer for. Exclamation

Glad it worked out ok!! As I said, the windows look like Martin Walter to me with the way they're recessed, are there any folding seats in the back of the J?

I'll try and find the username of the guy who does the repair panels for these, his name's Iain, worth getting in touch with him. I'd like a J van sometime myself Smile

Nice save. It doesn't even look in too bad condition.

Waauw, What A nice find!
It's at the top of my wish list!

If you ever want to sell it, let me know!

Do you have more pictures from the interior, engine?
What are you plans?

Kind regards,
Jonathan

Have a look on Ebay.
There is the front and chassis of a J Type Van,someone could make the rest out of plywood, nobody would ever know. ha ha Very Happy

Sorry it is not for sale at the moment.I am going to put it back on the road first.
I am going to put in a more modern engine and gearbox, then I can tow a classic caravan behind it to shows.

I'm surprised Iain doesn't post on here more often, he used to bob by now and then, perhaps he's too busy making repair panels for Js!!! Smile
