This weekend the Mdina Grand Prix is being held and today the concourse d'elegance was held at Mdina.
Me and a mate of mine went during break time in his herald 13/60, not the most comfortable of rides but a good laugh was had!
There were not many cars but still a good selection;
One for jason, first time I've seen an alvis in malta
Lovely Dino
Loved the detailing on this ford, sadly forgot to take pics of it as a whole!
mascot of the same car
A very nice engine bay of the above minx, same engine as my hunter
sticker on the rear screen, thinking of replicating one for my hunter
Left for last this beauty, really liked it!!!

thanks for showing these pictures, Malta is such a favourite of ours and always love to see a classic out on a sunny day. Wish i had known the date of the grand prix sooner i would have got a flight over. |

The standard of renovation looks to be universally high. Not something you generally find in the UK.

Well I think it actually is so Peter.
Lately went to look at a Healey sprite imported from uk about 4 years ago and had little use since and personally thought that the asking price was too high considering it needed a proper respray including the boot space and engine bay which were both hand painted in black on a white car, something I really hate!!
Oh by the way this car had been restored in the Uk some time before apparently, so in all around 6 years had passed since its resto and some paint had already started cracking. |

About time I uploaded the actual racing photos, not the best of photos since there were barriers all along so no chance of taking better pics and my new camera is a bit crappy, need to buy something with a bigger zoom!!!
But still here they are;
A friend of mine in his dad's from new 131 supermirafiori came second or third overall, a very good driver in anything with 4 wheels
This mini belongs to a club member and was fastest overall but then I was told that it was disqualified cause it was fitted with a modern eaton supercharger from a bmw mini on the A series engine!!
Don't think it was that fair to disqualify on such grounds since strictly speaking although not a period supercharger, superchargers in general were available at the time and to be first overall with so much more powerful machinery around proves that he is a very good driver as well!
That's all, there were more cars but I didn't get to see them racing unfortunately as it was time up for me and had to go back home!!
Maybe next year it would be a better idea to take some picnin gear and stay for the full day! |
