This car was part of a photo sent over yesterday, the enquirer wondering what TW 7762 might have been.
The wheels look Austin 7, and the reg. dates to 1925-27, suggesting it was based on a Chummy.
Does anyone recognise the bodywork? It rings a bell for some reason, but I'm not sure if this is an off-the-shelf special body, or a home-made one-off. The grille looks well done - thoughts?

I did own an Austin 7 special with an alloy ash body. It had a crash gear box, not much fun when you are learning to drive. Paid 35 quid for it, a guy chased me for it , so I sold it for 45 quid to him in less than 6 months. I regret that I do not have a photo of it . |

They certainly look like Austin Seven wheels and it looks like a fibreglass front. I was interested in building a 7 special in the late 50s and used to troll all the fibreglass body adverts, but I don't remember anything like this.
There were a great many skilled and innovative people about then and some of the one-off home-built bodies were quite remarkable. Perhaps it's a home-built one-off.
ps. I didn't finally build one myself until the 90s so had 40 years to ponder the problem. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

40 years seems an entirely reasonable gestation period. It doesn't do to rush into things, I find.
My wife now understands this, too. You should see her with a paintbrush.......
