Hi
There I am walking down the street when a postman stops me, and says I know you are interested in old cars and bikes, do you know anything about tiger cubs, a friend has one, has restored it all fancy but is loosing interest as it won't start, he thinks it is timing/carb problems, but is looking for some help, things to check etc.
Any ideas anyone!?
Cheers

I think, if I remember correctly, it was a Morris 8 Series E _________________ Richard Hughes |

It was the one with Arthur Lowe that had the 1000.

It's more than 45 years since I had mine... but early Tiger Cubs were notorious for having problems with c/b points. If it won't start, that's where I'd focus my attention (and fit a new battery if it hasn't had one for a while).

I once bought one for a tenner from a desperate chap who was pushing it along into Southampton.
I was working in a petrol station at the time and he just wanted to get rid of it.
I took a chance and after some tinkering I discovered that the HT plug cap had expired. removing it and replacing the wire directly to the plug resumed service.
All the lads in the garage were envious and I sold it the next day for 12 pounds to one of them.
Would have asked more but they all knew how much I had bought it for.
Check for a good spark first, then examine carb.
Regards Kels. |
