Hi
The FBHVC. has asked people not to sign this petition. In the current economic climate it will focus the wrong kind of attention on our older cars and might actually set the argument and lobbying back and could prejudice any future change and I actually think that attracting attention to this issue at the present time is far more likely to provoke the withdrawal of the exemption for older cars than it is to result in any extension of the exemption to newer ones.

You can't actually restore something when it hasn't existed before.
It was a 25 yr rolling exemption not a 30 yr one.

This has been up for discussion before, as far as I'm concerned it should stay as it is, or if it is made rolling again, only for cars of a significant age, say 40 years.

Why draw in more vehicles to the zero-rated band, raise its size and profile unnecessarily, and make it a bigger target? Especially with so much focus on raking in as much ££ as possible right now.

Leave well alone imho.

Some cars will fall into the band, some won't, c'est la vie.

I agree with Penman and Rick. All this petition will do is alert the bean counters in Whitehall to a potential source of income.

Hi

It doesn't really effect me as a rule, the sort of cars I like are normally (with a few exceptions) pre war or earlier, and also other tax exempt vehicle classes.

Cheers

Dave

That's why we don't want to draw attention to the fact that there are tax exempt vehicles - in case the exemptions are withdrawn.

It'll affect you then Dave!

Possibly, possibly not...

Agricultural vehicles are exempt, as are modern ones... As a sizeable chunk of my collection falls in this catagory it probably won't effect them.. The cars I like and alas don't own are ones your probably not going to do many miles in either..

Do horses pay tax.......... Wink
