|

Hi
Talking to an NT (mot tester) mate today, he was saying that electrical towing sockets will be part of the MOT test from April, interestingly he was a bit confused about what they have to test !, certainly all the new 13 pin sockets will have to be tested with an VOSA approved plug in device, but he was unclear about the test for traditional 7 pin sockets.
Now I know some folk (incuding me) over the years have not stuck to the standard wiring, possibly for security reasons, also if the 7 pin socket is to be tested technically there should be fog lamp wiring if you tow trailers over 1.3m wide, I bet some folk with a tow bar on a classic wont have a rear fog lamp wired, if VOSA do test 7 pin set up, could this lead to an MOT fail if you have not stuck to the standard wiring and regs, or not added a fog lamp because you only tow a small trailer and don't require a rear fog lamp?

Hi
According to
http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_190.htm
it is only 13 pin sockets which are tested for correct wiring. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
