how to replace the magneto strap

this is what its like just now, what are the wee bar bits that the adjuster bolt goes through called? I know I can make something but I'd rather find something pretty that I can adapt.

any and all suggestions accepted. I can do a temp repair using cable ties but that is about as non period as one can get!

Google "Magneto Straps"

First search found this, but no dimensions.

I found that one for a Lucas Mag but it made from spring steel and is only 17cm long and I need 28cm and adjustment.

I've found wheelspinmodels.co.uk wo carry stock of the right kind of strip brass and I can always solder it together and polish it up after.

New skills are always fun to learn!

What about one from an Austin 7 i know it's the wrong shape but it looks long enough to be able to be cut and bent.

If it is for a Bosch magneto then possibly. I will hunt one down tomorrow.

Cheers

Thanks for that Austin7 tip, I found this website and had a wee chat with the owner who makes mag straps to order for a very reasonable £30 or so.

He also has a wide range of other bits and pieces for Veterans that are not on his website and offers them on sale or return (irrespective of the distance selling regs).

I can see me emptying my slush fund into his bank account in return for shiny stuff!

Interesting site, I'd not seen that before.
