Just a few sightings today, a Spitfire, MGB Roadster, XJS, and a white P6. For Drive It Day it seemed pretty quiet out there.

I was pottering along a back road here in deepest rural France (Haute-Vienne, near Limoges) when, to my surprise, a Morris Minor on French plates came the other way. From what I recall of Moggies it was late 1950s or early 60s. Maybe there's a collector round here - a couple of years ago I came across a very smart Traveller. It all keeps up the interest...

Yesterday evening....passed a MGB and a MGA in convoy.....obviously both wanted to be seen, as both had their headlights on...the MGA's being very bright, and set rather high to boot....plus, poor old MGA was festooned with red lights on its rear......

All an hour before sunset!

I saw a red XJ-S convertible (the old style with the rollover hoop) at teatime, but nothing else for DiD.

A couple of nicely restored military Land Rovers passed the house tonight and then by chance going the opposite was a 'C' reg Sherpa van.

Yesterday, I followed a LHD Fulvia Sport Zagato on the motorway, and while in pursuit of the tiny Lancia I was passed by a green Aston DB4. Also saw a green-coloured Routemaster, and later a 20/25 (or similar) Rolls-Royce - very regal.

There must have been a "do" on locally today, a convoy of oldies drove by earlier, including a Mk2 Consul, a P5B Coupe, Mk2 Escort, chrome bumper MGB Roadster, and a Stag. Later in the afternoon we spotted a green Albion coach, which I think I've reported on here before.

I have seen two Wolseley 6/110s in the last fortnight. Two lucky owners living the dream.

Interesting, I didn't see the char-a-banc on the run so maybe it was off elsewhere ..?

I understand Drive It day was a fiasco in that so many cars broke down that the RAC waiting time was up to eleven hours because so many oldies failed.

A friend in the TR register had to roadside a repair an Healey 3000 because the RAC were a no show and because the specialist company who’d done the work had fitted a rotor arm with a rivet known to short out.

Be warned that if you’re using a specialist, you need to make sure he knows what he’s doing. Many don’t, some are dangerous and lots literally rob their customers. Trouble is modern cars are too complicated so mechanics turn to classic cars.
