Owner/driver of a 1913 Ford, has just completed the journey from Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) to Moscow.
Constantine Mandylas drove from Melbourne to Perth (Western Australia) approx 2,500 miles as a warm-up for his journey from a Southern point in Africa, Northwards to finish in Moscow. What a feat, and quite a good effort from a 99 year old car.

These old Fords were certainly built to survive.

If you want a very good read, try Adventurer's Road by T.R. Nicholson. It is the story of the 1907 Pekin to Paris road trial and the 1908 New York - Paris motor race. My copy is 1957 published by Cassell & Company LTD. London. An original French copy will set you back a thousand dollars or two .... |
