I have been corresponding with Steve Foreman of Woodies, probably the major manufacturer of Minor Traveller wood kits. He has expressed a willingness to make complete ash kits for the 1954 to 1958 Oxford Series II and III and Isis Series I and II Travellers. He has only been asked to make one kit for these cars in 30 years, so was obviously surprised when I approached him. He believes that he could make these kits for about £1200 plus VAT per kit if there was sufficient demand. I think that this is an opportunity to seize, and compared to the increased value of a vehicle with new wood, the price seems excellent value. If interested please PM me or email Steve at Woodies directly at forwoodies@aol.com

Are there many Oxford or Isis woodies left in unrestored condition to benefit though? It'd be interesting to know the survival rates, in the UK and overseas.

It's difficult to know for sure, but at least 3 known of right now, (one in Canada, one in UK and one in Australia) all with unsalvageable wood. There might be a few dozen of them in good to excellent condition worldwide, and my bet is that another half dozen unrestored ones are likely to surface sooner or later. Not a big market for any maker, and it would be a good idea to get the wood kits made while the price is not astronomical. It is unlikely that these will ever be high value vehicles, but they are very nice in restored condition, and even quite practical vehicles for daily use. Quiet, comfortable and not likely to give one whiplash from the acceleration....
