Great day today; passed the 500 miles mark since the MOT and as this was so appropriate for a Fiat 500, I celebrated by revving up to 60mph briefly for the first time. (This is the car resting afterwards)

Other firsts included most people I have ever had I the car; being two little grandsons and me. It was their first time since it actually started to move again and they were delighted of course.
then to cap it all the postman delivered the new V5 with the original number. Murphio lives again.

Good news for Murphio. Salvatore's mission was short but a successful 500 miles.

I will keep my eyes open looking for the Fiat on the journeys south, so if you see a 'modern' waving at you, you can guess who it is!
On a slight tangent to this, I always smile when we are out in the Morgan, and the general responce we get. When driving we often get a bip and a wave, sometimes with the occupants leaning out of the window photographing us, and occasionally, they overtake us (not difficult at 50 odd mph), then sat in a lay-by further along the road, waiting for us with the camera's ready.
Funny how a bip can be a friendly sound, a long blast completely different.

Beautiful scenery and I see Salvatore's getting a few more run outs. Is it always sunny up there? It's been peeing down all afternoon and evening down here.

It is sunny much more frequently than any other place in the UK I have ever lived in.

The small seaside town of Nairn, not far from Inverness, has been included in the coveted 'top five world destinations' list by the website Tripadvisor for its fair climate and proximity to the Highlands.

Based on the Moray Coast, the town is said to enjoy some of the sunniest weather in Scotland and was described as the 'ideal base' for a Highlands holiday.

Two blows today, one literally. Good for any Schadenfreude freunds but one gave Murphio a sore head. The wind blew the garage door shut which dislodged a box containing an old train set. The little dent this caused didn't hurt the paintwork and I tapped most of it out with the handle of a screwdriver. I will just have to live with the battle-scar...matches my own head.

I filled the petrol tank right up last week and it's shown a leak somewhere. I patched the tank a lot when restoring but I though I did a good job. New ones aren't cheap but that's where half my tax rebate is going.

I decided to "burn" off some fuel rather than decant it so hurtled to Inverness on an errand. Wow, this car is really loosening up. I was driving legally, but like an Italian. One car even pulled out my way on the back road. Laughing

It easily scoots along at 50mph now and sounds smoother as we purr towards 60.

I also found out two things about it today. It's quieter with the sunroof open Rolling Eyes and it's wise to take a sheltered route when the wind is blowing...I really used the wide carriageway of the A96.
