................ forgot to mention its a toy car garage actually Very Happy

Have been thinking of doing one for my daughter for some time now, I mentioned it once to her and she seemed to like the idea a lot!!
This started because we would play with some cars racing them from her slide actually and then some friction ones on the kitchen floor!!!

After checking some other builds on the internet I settled for a basic setup which includes 3 rooms interconnected, the main garage or service area, the paydesk and a smallish showroom with lift!!
On the front 2 pumps and a tire inflator on a platform and as mentioned already a car lift will be in the showroom, taking the cars on the roof top which serves as parking as well!
A ramp will also be added on the back to take cars from the service area to the roof top parking lot!

Hope she likes it when its finished which should be not later than 21st January (hopefully), that is her 5th birthday!!!
Here are some photos of it and btw I hope this is the right section to put it in Rick!

Hopefully I'll get more then this coming weekend and will have it ready for paint by sunday so that I can paint it during the week!!

Are you going to get some vintage signs to go on it, I like the overall shape of it, very retro Smile ??

Hmmm let me think...........................
............... got them already, actually downloaded lots, resized them, printed them to the best possible standard my printer has and after cutting them up best I could, I laminated them and re cut them leaving a 1 mm border around!!

Should look nice once finished hopefully!!

Looking forward to painting it and putting the signs on, think I'll use double sided tape for those!!

I do not know where to buy brick paper from so thought about painting it magnolia on the outside, the floor a light grey, the roof satin black, and the inside a darker grey for the 1/3 bottom part and a baby blue for the 2/3 upper half with maybe a thin stripe in between both colours either in white or some other colour preferably something stick on!

Hi
Two places to find all sorts of material for model making, their printed catalogues/guides are probably available at WH Smith etc as well.

The hardest part will be finding a name for the garage that she likes. The garage is coming along nicely and it will be good to see it finished. Then she will probably want a train set.

I'd really like a train set too!!

I might get an old set of scalextric to go with it in the future. New ones are quite expensive here, but I should be able to find something suitable on ebay, problem is post won't be cheap tough!!

This weekend got more work done, did all the parts that make the lift, the ramps in the garage to work on the cars and painted most of it. Tonight I'll give the inside another coat, the last one and a second coat to the outside as well, then it will be time for reassembly!!
Hope the lift works ok cause I have not tried it yet!!
Also need to make a window and a door for the showroom, although I am not sure how to tackle those yet!!!
Forgot the camera, but I have taken some pics during the wkend which will upload tomorrow.

Some more progress photos;

The back end

The roof and ramp

Made 2 small ramps inside the garage for repairs to the underside Laughing

The lift

What makes the lift go up and down

Back end after a couple of coats, 2 more coats have gone on now with sanding in between

The front, again one more coat was done here with some sanding between the 3 coats

This brings us more or less up to date although the interior has received another coat and again I have sanded with 320 in between!!

Tonight it will be assembly time after I have put the signs on!!
Then I might try and put together a window for the paydesk window and a door for the 'showroom' area

Today I'll be giving it to her, hope she likes it!!
I'll take some pics of how it looks ready and some of it with the birthday girl!!
