You may have seen this car recently on Ebay, Me and and friend just had to have it, we are big classic car fans and have 30 cars between us from 1930s to 1980s, we looked at it before we bought it but just could not identify anything at the time. Since collecting the car and investigating further we now know it has a Standard gearbox 4 speed with reverse top left, I think the engine is possible from a Standard 8hp from 1945 to 1948 and the 13" rims look like there from a 50s Standard 10 maybe? everything so far apears brand new and never used as though its been made from new components, the front suspension I cant place yet? nor the Radiator of its unusual core? the brake master cylinder also. what is the chassis from. This might sound odd but looking at the lines of the door and the way the front comes right down reminds me of Triumph TR2 kind of, but the square arches? the car appears very well made and a lot of thought has gone into making it. The boot lid has a lever inside to open it and the spare wheel is in a tray under the car and released by a catch in the boot, the back seat base has a diaphram in it and should be filled with air.
I have found an Engine number BC3013F and the engine has a Lucas distributer, Lucas 2 bobin regulator there is also a small oil pressure gauge fitted in the engine bay which says Eureka(Tomey Birmingham Makers) under the back seat there is space for 2 6 volt batterys.

I had a look at the chassis a bit closer today, if this was a special wouldn't it be built on an existing chassis. this chassis seems to have been fabricated all bar the front section, from the bulk head back it has continous welds along every box section length, I dont think this is normal as most chassis would have pressed and rolled box section?

It has been known. RM Riley chassis are two C-sections continuously welded together.
Not that this is an RM chassis, it isn't; just pointing out that it has happened. |

Makes me think of a Daimler SP250's uglier half-cousin... |

Cool "thingie" I have seen those headlights & rear fenders before.
Think they are US made ?
rear fenders maybe from some 50ies Studebaker model ?
well done saving it now you need to get it "up & running" _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

Agreed it does look very 50's Studebaker maybe a Champion front and back end. Very square wheel arches though?
The convertible and windscreen look like an early Land Rover??? |
