I already have another thread on this site about my 1936 Series 1 Morris 8, which I still have (although it may need to go to fund the new project).
The Rochdale was featured on the front page ob this site today as Case No 11 in Crumbling Classics.
It is a Ford special on Ford chassis and running gear, so would I be better to have this thread in the Ford section? Advice please.
Meanwhile if anyone has a Rochdale GT, or has owned one or knows anything about them please get in touch.
I will post some pics in the next few days.
Cheers

That seemed to work ok, so here are a few more. This is as I picked the car up.
Most bits seem to be there, but as I never dismantled it I am still trying to make sense of what is there. The first job when the weather is a bit warmer will be to take the body off and refit the gearbox, engine etc. I then aim to fit the body to the chassis and trial fit doors, bonnet etc before embarking on the fibreglass repairs.
I have nevr done and fibreglass work before !
If there is anyone out there with experience of glassfibre repairs or having restored a Ford special please get in touch.

Rick,
it has been on the road. I have one old MOT cert from the mid 70's. But I am not sure when it was road legal last. It is a Fochdale GT but is registered as a 'Ford special'.
It even came with a modern log book which was sent off by the seller, so I am waiting to see if it comes back ok with the original number which is: 2232MK.

That reg. shows up in an online check as being associated with an 1172 Ford, so you should be ok

HI,
can anyone help. I need two A30/A35 door window mechanisms (the slide up and down type). That is what should be fitted to my Rochdale. If anyone knows where I can find them or if there is another car with something similar I would be grateful for the info.
I have put the engine and gearbox etc back together and all looks well.
I hope to take the body off next week, and refit the drivetrain and rebuild the rolling chassis.

Some good news. I received the V5C back from DVLA this morning and there has been no problem with retaining the original Reg No: 2232MK.
Considering the car has not been on the roas since the eraly 70's this is a good result.

Hi I have been busy since my last post.
I have removed the body and reassembled the engine and gearbox and fitted all the aquaplane tuning bits.
Yesterday I hot wired the engine and fired up straight away, I was amazed.
More importantly it sounded great, at the moment there is no water in the system so I did not run it for long. The next job is to fit some top and bottom hoses, this is proving to be a problem finding anythin to fit !!
Anyone got any good ideas?
I am also having some probs dowmloading my pics from phptobuacket to get them to open without have to click on the link, so bear with me.

These guys do various generic hoses in rubber or silicone which may be of interest - https://www.europaspares.com/ Have a good browse, they're not all on the same page... |

Latest update. I will post some pics in the next few days. I have done quite a bit on the Rochdale. Mecnaically it is all back together, I just need to fit a new fuel line and a bit of wiring to fire it up !
The body is back on, but not yet painted. I was advised to refit the body ebfore painitin and make sure everytning fits/works etc, what good advice that turned out to be !
I need 2 Morris Minor stainless steel window frames if anyone can help ?
They are the 2 door variety.
Cheers
