Hi, two questions i need some guidance on.
1. When removing the head bolts i noticed that their threads seem to have broken through all the way through into the water passages, when i reassemble the engine surely one needs to put some sort of sealer into prevent water creeping up the threads?
2. What is the orginal colour for the Engine and Gearbox mine seem to have been red? I have seem some green and grey engines.
Regards

Hi Trevor
Water seeping into the stud threads is not uncommon on these engines, the castings were never brilliant, and there is not a lot of metal between the water jacket and the stud threads, sealant is the order of the day. My Z van always has a small bubble on the rear most cylinder stud!
Regarding engine colour; when new they were black, Morris reconditioned units were green. The similar MG TA engines were red.
