|

My Pilot has been converted to 12 volt but I noticed as I intend to fit a buzzer to the indicators, that the flasher unit is 6 volt.
It is functioning OK at the moment with the indicators flashing at an acceptable interval but I'm not sure if piggy backing the buzzer will work as I think the buzzer is 12 volt.
Any thoughts?
Thanks |

I'd fit a 12v flasher, the 6v one will be under a bit of stress, and may fail or get a bit hotter than is desirable.

Good idea, it would take the guess work out of it.
Leads me to another question though, would a "standard" type flasher be OK, ie a 2x21W type?
Doing a bit of research on the subject as I have 10w indicator bulbs it would seem the 2 x21w would be too high and the flash rate may be too slow (or non existent). |

Thanks for the link Phil,
It's turning into a bit of a saga - the motorcycle ones would be the correct rating at 2 x 10w but can't find any with a terminal for indicator light, only terminals for battery, load and earth.
If I get a generic 2 x 21w I'll need to either jury rig one or two (hidden) additional bulbs to correct the load or put in line a ballast resistor.
I haven't checked out an electronic relay, so will do a bit of homework. |

You do not need a terminal for a single indicator light all you do is connect one terminal of an insulated warning light holder to each sides indicator. It earths through the opposite indicator lamp
Not sure this would do a buzzer as well - try it _________________ Rover P2

Thanks for the help, I'll source a suitable flasher unit and see how it goes. |
