Hi all.

Today I pulled myself together, and went to my garage, where the Green Mini Special has been parked since the summer of 2008

I took a 220 volt compressor with me, and a long extension cable.

Found a flat 2 stairs up, where someone would let me borrow a socket, to plug in the compressor.

10 min later, and the wheels had air in them again.

checked oil & water, fitted a charged battery, then turned the engine on the start motor a bit,
without pulling the choke, so she could get some oil around the engine.
Sprayed some startgas into the airfilter, turned the key, and she startet right away.
I then checked if clutch & brakes worked ? and they did

so tomorrow she will be driven to the workshop, for the BIG changes .

Did a video http://youtu.be/CZIBNnemI74

Hi B2,

I will fit new pistons in the S calipers I have for it, maybe also 2 new disc,s ? will check first .

Exchange the Innocenti disc,s & calipers, with the S items.

remove the tyres from the 10" Cobra Slot mags, my Father bought for it, when new,
and have the edges straightened in a Lathe.
Then polish the rims, and fit the new Youko semi slicks I got.

then when all is fitted to the car, its going to the basement = as low as my White race Min Wink

New oil / grease & fluids all over etc.

then put her back into the registre, and drive her a bit more.

sounds like a good plan!!
The best part is the fact you're gonna change the wheels, cause to tell you the truth I did not like the ones it has at the moment but the ones you'll be fitting I surely do approve!! it will look Cool

Forget about the looks - I had completely forgotten how uncomfortable she is with those lowprofile tyres Rolling Eyes
or is it me that got nearly 6 years older Confused anyway she is NOT nice to drive.

The WP drives SOO much nicer, and its much older, and with solid bolted front subframe.

Mind you - the Green one goes exactly were you point the steering wheel, but thats all the good there is to say.

The "bling" chase has already started Rolling Eyes found the 2 WASO fuel caps I swapped on the WP (small dents)
but I also have 2 genuine British Leyland caps in alloy with lock, hmm many things to decide Wink

At the gasstation thursday evening http://youtu.be/r_Mw2ztxLEU

need a good wash & polish .

I dont think I will fit the Wassos, they are more of a late 60/early70ies cap.
Plus the British Leyland ones, are nice = they have the round BL badge cast in the lid that covers the keyhole, looks very nice.

So it has started = was in the garage tonight, after a trip to Gilleleje tuesday evening,s car meet, in the Wood & Pickett.

Now I need to reverse some of all the "fawlty" items I have "upgraded" her with back in 1996/97.

Found the original rear badge, and I know where the one, for the grill is.

Will replace the fuelcaps in the video, with 2 of these =

These are genuine 70ies British Leyland accessories, and with matching key

Here is how she looks inside =

Did it have the oval originally or the clubman binnacle.
From memory the 79 special had the clubman binnacle, clubman rear bumper both on front and back, a console with cigar lighter and special badging and special wheels (chromodora maybe?)
what colour was it originally?

This is the original (well sort off) I made 3 new metal "bezel,s" for the gauge,s and had them chromed.
The gauge setup is almost identical to that in a 1275GT.
Only the tacho is different = Red zone start 500 RPM earlier on a Special.

No center console in Danish Special,s
No Alloy,s either .

My car was light Green metallic, with Black vinyl roof.

It will never be repainted, that paint job on it, can never be repeated.

Its a even better than the job on the WP (much better)

wont fit the Black vinyl roof either Wink

all chrome also need to be removed = too dull for me.

A British guy, with huge interest in cars, saw it 15 years ago, and said it was the best paint job he ever saw
To this day you still wont find a blister anywhere.
