I read the posts with interest as I have a professional soda blasting set up. A couple of points I would like to make are.
The hobby kits are ok but are best suited to small areas / parts, and the limit for the hobbyist is the compressor size.
For anything larger then an industrial compressor is required complete with an after cooler at minimum prior to the air entering the blast pot.
Soda is also a natural cleaner / degreaser and is ideal for all those greasy parts. It will not damage bearings etc.
Finally, be aware that all on youtube regarding soda blasting is not all it seems. Some of the paint removed from cars seems very quick compared to reality. I am convinced they have just painted a car prior to blasting it. It will take me approximately 4 to 5 hours to blast a bodyshell with a coarser media. I don't recommend soda for a bodyshell unless it is aluminium due to cost.
If anybody requires more info / help, pm me. |
