I use Gum-Gum exhaust paste, by the time the manifold and system is reassembled, the paste is all but dry.

Maniseal is a great product. Apply, bolt the flanges together firmly, start the engine, allow to idle and the maniseal will cure beautifully and maintain its seal.

I have used it for years. Many years ago, I drove a truck, and could not get time to spare to have a new exhaust pipe fitted for quite some time. I made many temporary repairs by opening up jam tins, coating with Maniseal on the inside, then clamping over the hole with worm drive hose clamps. Eventually had a new pipe fitted, and found the jam tins in quite good order after taking the old pipe off.
