I am in the process of refurbishing the brakes on my 1936 Triumph Gloria. I have renewed the wheel cylinder seals and have just stripped the Master Cylnder.
Before I refit a nice clean Cylinder with nice new seals I will need to remove and clean out the over fifty year old very thick brake oil from the pipes.
What is the best way of doing this?

A good time to replace the pipes as well, particularly if you are doing the expensive bit with new cylinders. A roll of pipe is very reasonable, and flaring tools cheap as well. The new flexi's will be the most expensive bit, but well worth the money, particularly if they are original. _________________ KA

I.had not thought to replace the pipes.Because of the age of the car they are BSP fitings with copper pipe.I will carry out a good inspection.Thanks

Methylated spirit is a good option for cleaning brake parts as it evaporates without leaving residue and does not harm rubber whilst removing all traces of oil & grease. _________________ old tourer

I had not thought of meths. I think that I will assemble with old seals and flush the system prior to fitting new seals.
