Seeing the shot earlier of the old chap on the motorbike reminded me of a photo I have of my Great Grandfather sitting proudly on a motorbike back in the 30's. I will find it out and send you a copy for the main site.

Hi
Re BSM cars in the late '50s- early '60s.
At that time BSM were as far as I remember a one make concern.
My father learnt to drive around '56 to '57 in a Morris Minor, at that time they were fitte with a full set of dual including a steering wheel.
During the early '60s, after acquiring my own licence I often had a lift from a BSM instructor who always drove from the left hand seat.

The dual steering wheel feature disappeared after the MoT insisted that dual accelerators were removed for tests. This was because of a fatal caused by tan examiner stamping on the accelerator instead of the brake in an emergency situation.
It was easier and cheaper not to fit either.

Richard Hughes kindly lent me a set of photos he discovered not long ago. They feature all manner of cars, lorries and vans seemingly dumped on land close to Rush Green Motors, a scrapyard that exists to this day and remains a source of early lorries and lorry parts. The first set of photos, dating to 1962, have now been added, those from 1963 will be added later.
