|
|
I've got a few questions regarding our Z van as it's not all standard...
Firstly are any of the following common to any other vehicles:
Rear axle
Prop shaft
Gearbox (series 1/2?)
Crankshaft (series 1/2?)
Rear brakes
Also, looking at the spare parts lists, the illustrations show a centre horn push and stator tube, but ours has a centre nut and the horn push is on the side. Which is correct? _________________ Garage: 1939 Morris 8 Series E, 1942 Morris Z Van |

The rear axle appears to be unique to the Ser Z and from 1948 on it was a hypoid axle similar to Morris Minor MM.
The crankshaft is unique to Ser Z.
The gearbox is unique to the Ser Z.
The propellor shaft is unique to the Ser Z.
The rear brakes drum and shoes are the same as ! & 2 and E but the backplate is unique.
This info is based on Morris Parts lists. |

The horn push in the centre of the steering wheel appears to be the correct arrangement according to the handbook and parts list |

Hi
Would the rea axle have the same ratio as a car?
Often, cars had a different ratio allowing a higher speed while commercials had a ratio more suited to moving loads. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I believe the Z Van had an 8/43 diff the same as the early 8 cars and vans. All the cars then went to 7/37. The part numbers for the Z Van are unique to the Z Van. 100848 up to chassis 27554 then 102000 chassis 27555 onwards. They may be interchangeable with the car diffs. |

The Z Vans had 7/37 CW and P from start i.e. no 8/43 Z vans |
