Apparently the windings had to be done, the big lump that spins around. Looked like a difficult job but to an expert no problem at all and considering the work not expensive. Still a bit of a shock with the total cost considering I thought it might be something simple but should now last another 80 years. _________________ Enthusiastic amateur classic car nut. |

Ah! The armature, then—surprising, because I've never heard of one of these giving up. For future reference, any armature can be tested for continuity on all sectors by asking an auto-electrician to give it a 'growler test', which only takes a minute.
