The driver's seat is worn, yes, but it hasn't lost it's shape and does not appear to have sagged as one would expect after 120,000 miles.
The steering wheel looks aged but 120k miles would have taken more toll. I cannot see any stress cracks but, there again, steering wheel leather covers were a popular buy and the bakelite looks thick.
The life expectancy of an Austin Hereford would have been, what 7 - 9 years and 60-70k miles?
The condition of the boot floor is remarkable.
Difficult to judge I'd say, the car is sixty two years old after all. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Maybe the wear on the carpet and seats is because "back in the day" it took longer to drive 20,000 miles. |

Ellis Bach,
The steering wheel covering is a marble-ey type finish. Maybe that's why it looks odd to you.

I cannot say that knowledge of finish on Austin Hereford steering wheels is exactly my forte but I didn't know it is marble-ey in appearance.
What were they made out of - bakelite?
I have a 1954 Land Rover Series One and the steering wheel of that has worn down to twig thickness.
