This little piece of ford history is the actual ford cortina that belonged to the managing director of the ford manufacturing plant in Dagenham London. He kept a log book to record not only the service history but every time she was refilled with fuel. Still running smoothly 2016

My Grandparents had one of these when I was younger, same colour too but if I recall correctly it had a brown vinyl roof.

Seeing this car reminded me of a friend many years ago. He was married to a lovely Scottish wifey and they had 5 children. A truly wonderful family.

My friend worked very hard to support his family properly. They owned a nice house and the kiddos were well looked after. As with many of us when we were younger and raising families, that meant that the family car, which my friend relied on for work as well as family transport, was a bit of an old jalopy.

Well, to get back near the topic, one day my friend came in to a little bit of cash. Quite a tidy sum in fact. Just enough to buy a brand new Cortina. And oddly enough, a GXL exactly like the one shown! He was very happy and very proud of his new car.

But, and there always is a but, his wee wifey had not been consulted and took a very dour, pragmatic, dim view of the purchase. He really could have used the cash for other, probably correctly considered (by wifey of course) more important, expenses that the family faced.

One week of stormy exchanges between friend and wife later said Cortina had gone! It was sold at a loss and another not quite so ropey old jalopy was found.

Hi Rick,

No, not mine. Just admiring from afar.
Oddly enough, I stumbled across her the other day at different car show.
Wasn't sure if it was the same car or just another of the same model.
Then I got home and checked the license plates... yep, it was her again.

She's a beaut. And the owner is asking for £5k ONO.

I'm seriously tempted considering the history attached.

What do you think??
Looks even better in the sunlight?

Back in the day, OO was the Reg letters for Dagenham so there are a lot of ex Ford owned vehicles with those letters.

Back in the 70's when I worked for the Yorkshire Water Authority (Sewage) one of the engineers was looking to buy a newer s/h vehicle and happened upon a Mk1 Escort "POO" as he said, he just had to buy it.
