Whilst I feel we have entered an era where 'perceptions' add more value than reality....perhaps the 'value' is more in the identity? |

I bet reality soon sets in when they come to load it up and the wife sees it . |

In November 1983 I paid £150 for a one lady owner 1100cc Ford Escort Van.
1967, F, registered, 30k miles, fsh, 12 months MOT and taxed which had only been used privately.
Where do you start restoring what is a wreck fit only for crushing?

In 1971, the firm I worked for bought me a new Escort 1300 deluxe van.
It cost £763!
No, the world hasn't gone mad, but it is becoming populated by idiots. |

Why would anyone pay £4,000 for that when there''s another one in much better condition on eBay for £5,000 or offers?

Having 'sold' for over £4,000, the original vendor has now relisted it with a starting bid of £100 _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

At about the same time I was offered a 10 year old Escort van for £200, it had belonged to a local hotel and used once a day for a 10 mile round trip to pick up supplies....I declined
In the same year I scrapped a Bedford CA because it failed its MOT due to excess steering play and a leaky shock absorber
