Wheeler Dealers to host MGLive! 2017.

The MG Car Club is thrilled to announce that TV’s Wheeler Dealers are coming to MGLive! taking place at Silverstone circuit on June 17th & 18th.

Series stalwart Mike Brewer will be joined by the show’s latest recruit Ant Anstead, recently announced as Mike’s new partner for the upcoming series.

Neither Mike nor Ant are strangers to the world’s biggest MG show, with over 3,000 MG cars on show as well as spectacular motor racing on the GP Circuit. 2017 will be the third year in a row that Mike has featured at the event, and Ant’s second after an impressive debut last time around.

At MGLive! Mike will appear on the Saturday, while Ant will be with us all weekend hosting the Live Action Arena, and alongside some exciting stunt displays, the pair will be taking part in various games and challenges which will see them get the audience involved in more ways than ever before!

Mike commented: “As ever with a live event, the best bit is the people - like-minded enthusiasts who share the same passion for cars. I had a fantastic time in 2016 with my good mate and new on-screen partner Ant Anstead and my dear friend Russ Swift. I can’t wait for more of the same this year.”

Last year saw the second ever human gymkhana take place, which got members of the audience to compete in a timed activity course with car-related tasks.

The Mac Tools Challenge was the newest addition to the arena, with massive prizes awarded to those that could change a tyre in the quickest time using an electric wheel gun.

For 2017, Mike and Ant will be adding a new game that will see them face off against one another in a challenge that involves four wheels and lots of water!

MG Car Club General Manager Adam Sloman said: “We’re delighted to have Mike and Ant back with us for MGLive! this year – and officially as the Wheeler Dealers!

“After working so well together at the show in 2016, it would have made no sense to not have them back. Their enthusiasm has given the event an extra spark in recent years, and that’s something we want to keep hold of as it’s unique to MGLive!”

To celebrate the Wheeler Dealers at MGLive! 2017, the MG Car Club is giving people who book tickets to the show between now and April 30th the chance to win an MG SMEG fridge.*

Unveiled at last year’s MGLive! and having produced just 39 units, the limited edition fridge was launched to celebrate the new SMEG UK headquarters moving to the site of the old MG factory in Abingdon.

The collection of 39 fridges is a significant number as it represents the number emblazoned on the MG K3. The K3 famously won the prestigious Mille Miglia road race in Italy, beating all marques in its class, the first non-Italian car to ever take honours, back in 1933.

Everyone that books tickets from now until the end of the month will be thrown into the prize draw where a winner will be picked at random.

MORE TO MGLIVE! THAN JUST MG CARS!

The name above the gate may say MGLive! but there's plenty more to see than just MGs models when the MG Car Club's annual extravaganza returns to Silverstone on 17th and 18th June.

The Club's Racing division has developed a racing programme not to be missed on the GP Circuit, as it's own MG championships are joined by the pre-1966 Touring cars from the Masters Series, giving visitors the chance to see BMW 2002s, Alfa Romeos, Lotus Cortinas, Ford Falcons and Mustangs battling it out against the ever competitive Mini Coopers.

There will also be action from the single seater Radical Challenge Championship, as well as the all powerful Porsche Club Championship.

But the biggest grids of the weekend will be from the eclectic mix of Equipe GTS, with a range of vehicles from Alfa Romeos to TVRs and of course MGs – with Midgets and MGBs completing a varied line-up.

For those who prefer to be part of the action rather than just spectate, MGLive! invites owners to compete in the California Cup Autotest, the MGLive! Autosolo and a Sprint held on the Stowe Circuit. There's also passenger rides and a chance to take to the GP circuit in the lunchtime parade lap.

Away from the track, around 3,000 MG models spanning over 90 years of motoring heritage will be on display from the Club's various registers, along with a collection of models that have all made their mark in motorsport.

There's also the Live Arena hosted by Wheeler Dealers' Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, with plenty of fun and games including a human gymkhana, relay race, and daily car clinics. The arena also boasts stunt driving legend Russ Swift's only UK performance this year, marking 30 years since his first appearance at Silverstone.

The Trader village offers parts and spares as well as motoring memorabilia while the Lifestyle Marquee has a mixture of arts, crafts and hand-made gifts. If you fancy clearing out your garage, you can book a space in the ‘Silverstone Sort Out’ which is a motoring car boot sale.

MGLive! is as much a social event as a haven for motoring fans, with the new Village Green area offering live musical entertainment through the weekend so people can relax and enjoy the festival vibe.

Saturday will see performances by retro harmony group The Candy Girls along with leading covers band, The Shadow Monkeys. On Sunday, it's the turn of all-girl group, The Glamophones and Dammit Jack, who will be playing songs from the 60s through to present day.

Those wishing to make a weekend of it can stay overnight with camping facilities on offer from as little as £35 for a tent pitch and £40 for a caravan/motorhome, with a choice of general or family camping areas for those wanting a quieter part of the venue. Those staying onsite can also dance the night away to music from part band TFI Live as well as a DJ into the night.

Sponsored by Peter Best Insurance, MGLive! ticket prices start from just £18 in advance for MG Car Club members, £25 for non-members for a one-day pass, or £30 on the gate for all comers. Weekend tickets start at £28 for members, £40 for non-members, and £45 on the gate for both members and non-members. Children aged 15 years and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

MG CAR CLUB BRINGS ITS BIGGEST EVER RACING GRIDS TO SILVERSTONE FOR MGLIVE!

The MG Car Club is bringing its biggest ever racing grids to Silverstone for the annual MGLive!, celebration, held on 17th and 18th June, with more cars battling it out for those all important championship points as they head to the mid-way point of the motorsport calendar.

With 16 races over the two-day event taking place on the historic Grand Prix circuit and approximately 550 race entries, MGLive! welcomes six championships relating to the MG marque along with four fantastic guest championships.

MG Race Committee Chairman Ron Gammons said: “Our own Championships, such as Trophy who can always be relied upon to put on a scintillating show, you have Cockshoot and BCV8 together so will be a big grid with some quick cars. Adding to that the Equipe GTS on both days will swamp the grid with 1960s sports cars, well prepared and well driven.

“Amongst the visitors we have Porsche on Saturday, Masters on the Sunday with the pre 66 saloons, and of course Radicals on both days. Expect two days of Club racing at its very best”

The MG Trophy Championship will boast 30 entries, with Matt Turnbull looking to extend his lead over rivals Paul Luti and Jack Roberts. Turnbull is currently 12 points ahead of the pack but as the Brand Hatch meeting proved, anything can happen and its still all for the taking. Luti and Roberts will have their own battle as just two points split the pair currently in second and third place.

With races from the MGCC Iconic 50s Series, the Watt Electrical BVC8 Championship with MGCC Thoroughbred Sports Car Championship and Cockshoot Cup, and the Lackford Engineering Midget and Sprite Challenge, there’s no shortage of variety out on track.

The Club's various MG championships are joined by the pre-1966 Touring cars from the Masters Series, giving visitors the chance to see BMW 2002s, Alfa Romeos, Lotus Cortinas, Ford Falcons and Mustangs battling it out against the ever competitive Mini Coopers.

But the biggest grids of the weekend will be from the eclectic mix of Equipe GTS, with a range of vehicles from Alfa Romeos to TVRs and of course MGs – with Midgets and MGBs completing a varied line-up. Such is the demand to take part, the organisers have sanctioned four races over the weekend with a total of 80 Equipe entries including two genuine ex-works MGBs.

There will also be action from the single-seater Radical Challenge Championship, with it’s 30-35 strong grid featuring previous Radical champions including 2016 Radical Challenge victor Steve Burgess, multiple Radical UK and European champion Bradley Smith and current reigning European Masters champion Marcello Marateotto.

The all powerful Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli joins MGLive! with around 25-30 cars on the grid. With former champion and father Mark McAleer and his son Jake both leading their classes, Mark in the 996 C2 and Jake in the Boxster S, both will be looking to keep their rivals at bay.

There's also the SmartdriverClub Live Arena hosted by Wheeler Dealers' Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, with plenty of fun and games as well as stunt driving legend Russ Swift's only UK performance this year, marking 30 years since his first appearance at Silverstone.

MGLive! is as much a social event as a haven for motoring fans, with the new Village Green area offering live musical entertainment through the weekend so people can relax and enjoy the festival vibe.
