------------

The popular American themed Autumn Classic returns to Prescott Speed Hill Climb on Saturday 30 - Sunday 1 October 2017. The all-American Stars and Stripes weekend celebrates the biggest and brashest cars this side of the pond.

The action-packed weekend always attracts a wide variety of competition cars competing on the historic hill climb course with special classes for American cars and hot rods. Off track will be a spectacular display of American vehicles and USA-themed entertainment from the Demon Drome Wall of Death to live bands. This includes the Vegas Showgirls performing to ZZ Top, beginners dance lesson as well as the popular Stars n’ stripes comedy stilt walkers.

The paddock will be packed with a spectacular display of American muscle and classic cars from Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Chevys and Hot Rods to Indians motorcycles and Custom Choppers. The Orchard features a dedicated ‘show n’ shine’ display area which is open to all American vehicle owners.

Our friends at the Demon Drome return once again to bring you vintage thrills and spills on an original 1920's motordrome. Get lost in the nostalgia and allow your senses to indulge in the roar and smell of 1920's Indian motorcycles as the dare devil riders cheat gravity, performing amazing feats of virtuosity within mere feet of the audience on the oldest surviving Wall of Death. ‘Dynomyte Dave’ Seymour said “We want to keep the Demon Drome true to its roots but keep innovating and putting on the best shows we can”. Each year they wow the crowds and this year will be no exception. The roar of the bikes thundering up the wooden walls is loud, adrenalin is high, the acrobatics are thrilling and the incense of exhaust fumes rising up from the middle just adds to the assault on your senses. The Demon Drome will be performing four times a day and is included in the event ticket price.

After the noise of the Demon Drome take a look around the paddock at the special vehicle display, all of which will take to the hill for demos. We have an awesome collection of famous Camaros making their event debut including one of the most famous Camaros ever made - the Roger Penske 1969 Camaro Z28 Penske Sunoco. In addition we have the iconic 1977 Chevrolet Camaro black 7 International Race of Champions car raced by Unser and Fittipaldi dubbed 'lucky number seven' due to its very prestigious accomplishments on the racing circuit along with the 1975 Faberge Brut Chevrolet Camaro ZS8. The latter Camaro races extensively at Goodwood and is considered by many as the ultimate Group 1 saloon. Historic British Saloon Car Racing driver Stuart Graham will head to Prescott with its owner Nigel Garrett to demonstrate the V8 5.6 litre small block 450bhp Brut 33 Faberge-liveried beast. Throughout the ‘70s, Stuart Graham’s big V8 Chevrolet Camaro was the car to beat in the British Championships. He won touring car races, titles and awards in the UK, Europe and overseas racing Camaros and was the first person since Freddie Dixon pre-war, to win both bike and car TTs.

Another unusual car taking to the hill is a 1939 Chevy Coupe, designed and road raced in Argentina by Juan Manuel Fangio before he became a Formula 1 driver. Its current owner uses it to compete in rally endurance events from the Sahara Challenge to the Peking to Paris, a 35 day hard core rally from the Great Wall of China to central Paris via Mongolia and the Gobi desert, Russia and Europe.

Following the cinema success of the cult 1970s film "Easy Rider", custom bike design and engineering in the UK became a popular hobby. The Chopper Club of Great Britain will be showcasing some of their members marvellous custom engineered machinery.

It’s not all about cars either - Prescott’s ‘Hot Rockin’ main stage will play host to non-stop live music bands throughout the weekend (worth the ticket price alone!) and feature the talented Ding Dong Daddios, the resident band of choice for Goodwood Revival, and here at Prescott we love them too. The 5 sharply dressed nimble guys are simply the ‘kings of swing!’ performing an infectious blend of Jump Jive and Swing with a hint of early rock and roll. Jon Clare and The Fabulous Doughboys make their Prescott debut, the bands dynamic piano, bass and drums line-up really packs a punch. They draw on classic songs from the 1950s and give them the powerhouse piano treatment – just think Jerry Lee Lewis, but we will give the Balls of Fire a miss being a motor sport venue! Plus we have the marvellous songstress Betsy Harmony and the return of the popular Lady & The Sax – their stage presence provides a hugely entertaining high octane show.

We are also delighted to announce that Prescott will play host to the last ‘heat’ of the prestigious Classic American ‘Car of the Year’ competition. Aficionado Ben Klemenzson will be looking for cars either original or restored and ‘stock’, without aftermarket wheels or such like. The Prescott heat winner will be guaranteed a place on the Classic American stand at the Classic Motor Show, held at Birmingham’s NEC in November. He or she will also win a bespoke hand-cast brass trophy, a cheque for £100 and a large feature in Classic American magazine. All American vehicles on site will be part of the judging process. The winner will be announced on Sunday at 3.00pm, with a presentation taking place at 3.30pm near the start line gantry. The winner must be able to attend the NEC Classic Motor Show in November.
