Good afternoon everyone, luvely October day aint it?
Do the blowtorches so beloved by the Saturday morning chefs produce sufficient heat to braize/braze small items?
I needed a long small diam' bolt but didn't have one long enough so I braized 2 end to end and cut off a head. It did the trick but the flame was a tad large!
Over to you members for your knowledgeable thoughts.

Hi
I would have thought the temp would be the same because they use butane same as the DIY ones. The temp is regulated by exactly where in the flame you position the piece you're working on.
The hottest part is I understand at the tip of the inner cone of the flame. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Thanks for that reply Penman,
the hottest part of the flame i remember from school (soooo long ago). The flame from the blowtorch I have (butane) is very 'confused.
I'll look out for a 'cheffie job'.

Hi Tony
My hobby blow torch has three different heads a narrow one, a solder tip one, and a wide one which also has a flattened flare end available; which gives a flame like the one you describe.
I don't know which are dearest but don't forget the DIY ones are most likely to have a number of nozzles rather than just one.
Have you checked whether you can get other, different nozzles to fit yours? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Good morning Penman,
could you tell me from where you bought your hobby torch? It sounds just the job.
